Hi, Burleson! Can you believe tomorrow is already October 1st? The Chamber was certainly very busy in September with lots of events held and planned for the rest of the year.

One event we’d like to talk about is our donation drive. During the entire month of October we will be accepting donations for Crazy8 Ministries, Your Harvest House Burleson, Center for ASD, and the Children’s Advocacy Center. We are collecting specific items for each organization. See them here. Then in November we will deliver all of the donations! You can bring them to the Chamber office at 124 S. Main Street, Suite 228. We are above Babe’s.

We also would like to bring your attention to Old Town and other areas of Burleson where you may have noticed some scarecrows! Early in September we challenged Burleson businesses to design a scarecrow to reflect their business and display it publicly. Tomorrow all of the photos will be posted on our Facebook page and the photo with the most likes by October 15th will win a gift bag! We will also post a link to an interactive map where Burleson residents and visitors can go see each scarecrow!

Ribbon Cuttings

The Chamber’s ambassadors perform ribbon cuttings for new members and use their own personal Chamber experiences to help a new member find activities and events that will help them plug in, grow their business and succeed. This month there were two ribbon cuttings:

Dough Boy Donuts

The Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting on Sept. 15 for Dough Boy Donuts at 291 W. Hidden Creek Parkway in Burleson.

Dough Boy Donuts specializes in dough that is made from scratch, in-house daily. They roll, cut and fry donuts fresh throughout the day ensuring that warm donuts are regularly available, and no donuts are dressed until you order them.

The Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting on Sept. 29 for GS Professional Detailing at Burleson Collegiate High School, 517 SW Johnson Ave. in Burleson.

GS Professional Detailing is owned by Garrett Shipp, 17, who is the youngest member of the Chamber.

Lunch N Learn

On Sept. 15, Brianna Jones and Greg Woods taught an informative lesson on the importance of using videos in social media. One takeaway is that it doesn’t matter if you use a professional recording device or a cellphone to create your videos, just create! See the upcoming events to a follow-up workshop.
